Among the many issues young people face today, making wise choices about sexuality is one of the most critical. The culture we live in is teeming with sexual images, inappropriate messages, and dangerous advice about sex. More than ever before, adolescents need help to steer through the sea of mixed messages that surrounds them.
Developed by Focus on the Family®, an international non-profit ministry, No Apologies is a character-based sexuality program that specifically promotes abstinence-until-marriage. Its primary goal is to communicate that saving sex for marriage is the safest, healthiest, and wisest choice.
Abstinence is an important first step to teach our teenagers about healthy sexuality. It’s not just about saying “no” to premarital sex. Our goal is to help young people develop sexual intelligence. Sexual intelligence is the ability, which requires knowledge, guidance, and practice, to commit to an informed and wise decisions for one’s long-term sexual well-being and relational health. It includes being self-aware and self-controlled, having the capacity to set personal physical and emotional boundaries, understanding the opposite sex and one’s impact on others, and expressing one’s sexuality in a developmentally appropriate and culturally sensitive way without compromising on personal standards or family values.
Since 1996, Focus on the Family abstinence programs have been conducted in nearly 69 countries in more than 35 languages, collectively reaching over 3.8 million students and recording more than 84% abstinence pledges worldwide.
